In Senegal, the recent discovery of a group of woodland chimps sharpening sticks and using them like spears to hunt is rocking the primatology world. First reported by National Geographic Emerging Explorer Jill Pruetz, these savanna dwelling chimps, named the Fongoli group, may provide the most unique insight yet into the study of evolution, early hominids and our earliest ancestors.

Apple Adds Copyright Feature On MacBooks

Apple now has a restrictive copyright protection mechanism on its new Macbooks that prevents its users from watching movies on external displays. It has surreptitiously included a copy protection scheme called High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) in their external display ports which are in the latest MacBook models that came out in October 2008. Apple never acknowledged this new anti-copying mechanism as many new customers have discovered they can't play movies purchased from the iTunes online stores on external monitors, TVs or projectors. TweetValue, a new service that attempts to assign a dollar worth to a user's Twitter account, has launched. Now you can see what your Twitter account would be worth if anyone decided that buying Twitter accounts was somehow a smart investment. "The value is calculated with a Ph.D. algorithm that is based on the public information available on your Twitter profile." Leading the pack is Barack Obama's Twitter account, which is worth $41,150 according to TweetValue. For a comparison, Kevin Pereira's Twitter profile is worth an estimated $447. Source

Anybody who's unfortunate enough to come within the firing lines of PETA can garner some sympathy here. Recently, Majesco got skewered by the folks at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals with their own blood-soaked parody called Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals. PETA's version is similar to the Nintendo DS and Wii series Cooking Mama, except theirs tries to gross out the player to the notion of eating meat by focusing on the killing and cleaning of a turkey in preparation for a Thanksgiving dinner. Oscar-winning, Japanese director, Hayao Miyazaki, recently made a critical, if not altogether derisive comment against his Prime Minister Taro Aso's enthusiasm for manga comic books.
