Es hat nicht gut ausgesehen für das Morse-Alphabet in letzter Zeit. Ein Buchstaben-Code, der nur aus Punkten und Strichen besteht, wirkt wie von einem anderen Planeten, wenn man ständig umgeben ist von so genannten komfortablen Benutzer-Oberflächen und wenn selbst Handys mit einer kompletten Buchstaben-Tastatur ausgeliefert werden.

Master of spooky Stephen King is promoting his upcoming short story collection Just After Sunset with a series of web videos based on one of his stories. According to The Wall Street Journal, King is working with Marvel to put together the vids, and the 25 episodes will be distributed in online and mobile channels beginning this Monday. New episodes will be released daily, five times a week, through Aug. 29.

King and Marvel are expected to announce the series today. Check out the teaser:

Godfather of comics, Stan Lee, had a few words to say about movies versus videogames:

"When you talk about games evolving over the years and becoming more like movies, in many ways, they've gone beyond movies. To do a movie is difficult, but it's linear. There's a beginning, a middle and an end, and that's it - you write a story. In a videogame, you're writing many stories within the story. It's a totally different structure and a totally different philosophy of writing and, I think, a much, much more difficult one. I get the feeling more work goes into these videogames than even goes into the movies."

Showtime's Emmy-nominated series, Dexter, conducted a panel during today's Comic-Con celebrations with the cast, including Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy nominee, Michael C. Hall. Based on the Darkly Dreaming Dexter novels by Jeff Lindsay, the show is about the killing "tendencies" of blood splatter analyst Dexter Morgan, as he haunts the serial killers of Miami and takes matters into his own hands. But, according to the Season 3 trailer showed at Comic-Con, things may soon change for "America's favorite serial killer." After it's Showtime debut on 2006, the show is now on its third season starting September this year.

One of our favorite shows about a Miami vigilante blood spatter detective is getting an iPhone/iPod game. It was revealed at a Showtime panel that Dexter will be about integrating texting, calling, and gesturing to play the game. To further intrigue/complicate/confuse the issue, the game will be arriving episodically.

This could either be a cool innovative way to game on the iPhone or it could just be a confusing ghosttown of an ARG that tries to make you interface with strangers. Too early to say but we're looking forward to finding out more.

A trailer has surfaced from Comic Con for Marvel's Punisher: War Zone. It should definitely be sporting a "red band" as it's absolutely no-holds-barred. Judging from the trailer it seems that Marvel, Lions Gate and Frank Castle would all love to reboot the franchise in an even more mature manner and not have us think about 2004's forgettable The Punisher.

McFarlane Toys will be offering a set of two Halo 3 action figures at this year's Comic-Con. An exclusive Spartan Soldier (EVA "HellSpartan" ) will be paired with an exclusive clear Spartan Soldier (CQB Active-camouflage ) figure in a comic-con only pack.

The two exclusive figures have a limited production run of 3,000 each, and will be hard to get: You'll need to go to McFarlane Toys' Comic-Con booth #2601 to receive a card with complete details and instructions to buy them online but only as a combo.

There will be a limit of one card per person, and one set per card.

The creators of Superman laid out the future of the Man of Steel for the masses assembled at Comic-Con today. Here's how things are shaping up for Krypton's favorite son:

"New Krypton" storyline will kick off with a one-shot special.Story will feature Kandor being placed on Earth. "The Kryptonians of Kandor believe that Earth is now their New Krypton. Superman disagrees, and a conflict kicks off from that point."
The DC creative teams are eager to make Supergirl into an A-List title.
Superwoman is coming.
"Lots of good things" are in store for Lex Luthor. "He thinks he's going to change the world."
Superman and the Kingdom Come Superman will be teaming up in the upcoming one-shot by Alex Ross.

Do you know what Sub-Zero and Superman needs on their face in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? That's right.

During a MK vs DC panel in Comic-Con, Kombat king Ed Boon along with the game's story writer, Jimmy Palmiotti, announced that the clown prince will be joining his best pal Batman and friends in Midway's cross-over fighting title. Along with the Joker, veterans Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Jax, Kitana and ring bearer Green Lantern will also be joining the cast.

Now that The Dark Knight is officially last week's news, the most nerded-out over upcoming flick is probably Watchmen, so the news that all new footage from the movie was shown at Comic-Con caused a Nerd-Alert in the fourth degree. And the footage, from what we hear, did not disappoint--the uber-geeks at Aint It Cool practically had to change their pants.

A new Resident Evil movie was announced at Comic-Con today. Resident Evil: Degeneration is making its theatrical debut this fall in Japan and coming to DVD and Blu-ray in North America later in 2008. It's an all-CGI animated feature "takes the zombie action to a whole new level with its ground-breaking visual effects and thrilling new storyline."

Here's how IGN described the flick's plot:

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City ended with a missile attack ordered by the government intended to wipe out the deadly zombie virus. Following this catastrophe, the Umbrella Corporation's stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. Seven years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States, on an ordinary autumn afternoon, a zombie is unleashed. Now, in an airport beginning to fill with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to repeat itself... Claire Redfield, now a member of an NGO supporting victims of bioterrorism and medical disasters, happens to be in the airport while Leon S. Kennedy comes to the site on a mission to take care of the incident.

The movie-fans over at Ain't It Cool News are bringing word of some less than friendly back-rooms going-ons surrounding the upcoming Punisher War Zone movie--the kind of goings-on that feature sharp knives:

At the War Zone panel yesterday, Gale Anne Hurd told the audience that the slated director of the flick, Lexi Alexander, couldn't make it because she was on her Honeymoon. According to Ain't It's "inside sources" at Lionsgate, Alexander wasn't around because she's been booted from the flick. Lionsgate apparently felt the film wasn't hardcore enough so they dropped the director, and added a lot of Heavy Metal to the soundtrack, you know, to make it all "in your face."
